The CrazyOldMan Rant..

Welcome to the Disturbed Style Lesson videos. The exceptional vocal skills of David Draiman to the bands tight rhythm section combined with Dan Donegans aggressive, in-your-face guitar riffs results in a case of addictive music to date. If you ever get a chance to watch Disturbed live in concert, I recommend you do so. I went to see Disturbed twice at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City and was blown away by the amount of energy coming out of that place. Even people in wheelchairs were getting up and rocking to the music!  For tuning you will need to tune one-half step down from standard combined with a Drop D tuning. The tuning for a 6-string guitar will be Db-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb. I recommend you use some type of compressor or noise gate to help get your distortion tone out of your amp as tight as possible. For some of the riffs I will be using Dan Donegans signature pedal, The Weapon, which will be explained later. Now lets get started learning these riffs!

 Disturbed Style Riff 01

 Equipment needed: The Weapon

The Weapon has a clean phaser effect which allows you to fade into distortion sound at any time by depressing the pedal. After fading into distortion if you let off the pedal, the phaser effect will be bypassed leaving only a distortion sound. The pedal was designed to recreate Dan's studio effects by putting them into a effects pedal thus making it easier to play them live. One of the effects with the pedal allows you to recreate what is heard in the intro to the song "Voices". You can hear what this sounds like with Riff 01.

The Weapon

The Weapon is an exciting combination of 7 of Dan Donegan's signature sounds and tones including distortion, phaser, wah and sitar simulator. A must have for any guitarists effects collection. The lowest price available anywhere for this pedal can be found here!
